Aug 20th - Conversation

Mrs. Jones is talking to Mr. Rooney who she has just met in a café. They are having a conversation when Mrs. Jones asks Mr. Rooney what he does for a living . . .
Mrs. Jones: - What do you do for a living?
Mr. Rooney: - Am sorry I don’t understand the question.
Mrs. Jones: - What is your occupation?
Mr. Rooney: - I'm a mechanic; I work in a garage on Oxford street.
Mrs. Jones: - A mechanic? You must do a lot of work and get very dirty.
Mr. Rooney: - yes I do lots of work. Every day I fix cars and it takes a long time to get clean after work.
Mrs. Jones: - That is really interesting. How many cars do you think you fix in a day?
Mrs. Rooney: - On average I probably fix about seven cars every day I do get tired.
Mrs. Rooney: - What, sort of job do you have Mr. Jones?
Mrs. Jones: - I don’t have a job at the moment.
Mr. Rooney: - why?
Mrs. Jones: - I’m at college learning English.
Mr. Rooney: - Thanks for the chat I have to get back to work now.
Mrs. Jones: - yes, thank you for your time.

Astronomer? You mean that person who studies the stars and the universe?

He writes books and novels.
Novels? You mean " O outro " with Francisco Cuoco was written by an author?
No way! A novel is a romance...a book that tells love stories. " O outro" is a soap opera.

No. There is not any baker in my family but there is a bus driver.

My father does. He is a very good bus driver.
My father is an actor. He is very famous in Hollywood.
